Flonicamid is an organic compound with the molecular formula C9H6F3N3O. Belonging to a new type of low toxicity pyridine amide insect growth regulator insecticide, it obtained a temporary registration certificate for pesticide products in China in 2007 and is formulated as a 10% water dispersible granule. Flonicamid not only has contact killing and stomach toxicity effects, but also has good neurotoxic and rapid food refusal effects. Aphids and other piercing sucking mouthparts pests that feed on and inhale plant sap containing fipronil will be quickly prevented from sucking the sap, and no excrement will appear within 1 hour. Eventually, they will die of hunger.
Target pests: Aphids, whiteflies, planthoppers (Hemiptera piercing-sucking insects)
Systemic activity: Strong upward translocation from roots to stems/leaves; limited downward movement from leaves to roots
Mode of action: Inhibits stylet penetration and salivary secretion, forcing pests to cease feeding within 30 minutes, leading to starvation death (1-3 days)
