Thifluzamide is a systemic fungicide belonging to the carboxamide(or SDHI-Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitor)class, widely used in agriculture for controlling a variety of soil-borne and foliar fungal diseases. Chemically, it functions by inhibiting the enzyme succinate dehydrogenase in fungal cells. This enzyme inhibition disrupts the energy production within fungal mitochondria, effectively halting the growth and spread of the pathogen. Thifluzamide is particularly effective against diseases caused by basidiomycetefungi, such as Rhizoctonia solani, a pathogen that affect many high-value crops like rice, potatoes, soybeans, and wheat.Its ability to penetrate plant tissues and provide long-lasting control makes it popular in agricultural practices, where it is often applied as a foliar spray or soil treatment.
